Last minute addition
At the last minute, I packed my drone for a trip to the CUCC Austria Expedition to the Loser Plateau. Loser is a very large limestone plateau at 2,000 meters, so the vegetation is mostly a low scrub pine. This creates an ideal environment for using drones to aid prospecting for new potential entrances. This talk covers the speaker's crash course in photogrammetry to create useful imagery and models from drone flights.
During the CUCC Austria Expedition, the speaker learned to create geotiffs from drone imagery. This highly detailed imagery is fun to look at, but without more context, it is hard to use in the field. This talk covers adding the images to a QGIS project and integrating the images with entrance data and known cave passages. The talk covers a potential solution for collecting entrance and feature information in the field and uploading directly to the GIS project. This should reduce data entry errors and keep photos together with their locations.
