Lewis David Lamon, was one of the partners with Roy Davis at Cumberland Caverns Tennessee; Lewis was originally from Corydon Indiana, the son of Lewis Denbo Lamon (NSS2187), one of Indiana's early cave pioneers. The Lamons were long involved in caving in southern Indiana, as well as Tennessee, Arkansas and more. They often caved with well-known cavers such as Richard Powell, Bill Walter, Tom Barr, Ric Finch, Charlie Fort, Marion Smith, Roy Davis, John Turner and others.
After Lewis David's passing, well-known Tennessee caver Marion Smith, acquired most of Lewis' caving memorabilia/slides and Marion, knowing of my passion for Wyandotte Cave information, graciously gave Lewis's slides to me in 2017. Many of these slides pertain to Wyandotte from the 1960's and other southern Indiana caves, as well as many from the TAG area where Lewis David spent his adult life. Among the scenes depicted are Tumbling Rock Cave Alabama, Indian Cave Tennessee, Big Bone Cave, Keith Cave, Hubbards, Nichols Blowhole, all in Tennessee. Among the Indiana caves depicted are Wyandotte, Shiloh, Big Mouth, Danners and others. Most of these slides have not been seen for 30-70 years; while most of the cave scenes have stayed the same, a few have seen dramatic changes.
