DESCRIPTION:Audio is often a key element of a cave project for cave radios\
, ground-return telephones\, and two-wire field phones. Though the electro
nics is often solid\, the weakness in the audio can foil the best design.
The presentation will cover microphones\, speakers\, and speaker -mics and
how to optimize their use. Then we will talk about tools for characterizi
ng those components and a quick review of Room Equalization Wizard (REW) s
oftware. We will then cover the goals of project and importance of intelli
gibility. This will lead us to a quick way for evaluating a given design u
 sing the Count-the-Dot method.
