Audio in Cave Projects
2026-07-06 , 154

Audio is often a key element of a cave project for cave radios, ground-return telephones, and two-wire field phones. Though the electronics is often solid, the weakness in the audio can foil the best design. The presentation will cover microphones, speakers, and speaker -mics and how to optimize their use. Then we will talk about tools for characterizing those components and a quick review of Room Equalization Wizard (REW) software. We will then cover the goals of project and importance of intelligibility. This will lead us to a quick way for evaluating a given design using the Count-the-Dot method.
