DESCRIPTION:Thanks to support from NSS and caver volunteers from across the
  U.S.\, the NSS Vertical Training Commission (VTC) has continued to implem
 ent a national vertical training program for cavers.\n\nOur progress in th
 e past year (expected as of the 2026 NSS Convention):\n- Held nine Level 1
  basic-vertical training courses\, with about 70 Level 1 students\n- Held 
 three Level 1 trainer-pilot courses\n- Approved 23 new Level 1 trainers\n-
  Approved ten new master trainers\n- Established four regional course-gear
  caches (Northeast\, Central\, Southeast\, South Central)\n- Updated draft
  Level 1 trainer guide\n\nOur plans over the coming year:\n- Offer up to f
 our Level 1 trainer courses\n- Offer up to 15 Level 1 vertical training co
 urses\n- Implement a scholarship program\n- Raise funds for scholarship an
 d operating endowments\, additional regional course-gear caches\, and loan
 er vertical gear kits\n- Finalize the Level 1 trainer curriculum\n- Develo
 p and pilot a master-trainer curriculum\n\nOpportunities for NSS member in
